Strange behavior of LUT's in Davinci Resolve 14

PostTue Sep 19, 2017 11:05 am

Hello, BMD! I've been suprised very strange behavior of LUTs in last ver of Davinci Resolve. When I apply LUT the video get a very very dark picture with little peaks in blacks.

LUT enabled. Very dark picture.

If I will pull highlights by drag to left corner curves highlight point I will get "normal" picture.

Pull the highlight point in curves.

But it's behavior not normal. It's happening with standart supplied 'in the box' Davinci Reolve LUTs too. :?
As example I use "3D LUT-Film looks-rec709 Kodak 2383 D60".
Start point. Normal picture

What happens if you use the LUT first in the change with nothing else?

OK, can you tell me what happens if you just load the LUT and nothing else to the node tree?

Where did the LUT come from? What color space are you working in?

Be aware that LUTs can be color-space dependent. For example, if you load a LUT while in ACES, you can get some pretty strange results.

Thanks all! I found the reason! :D It is the wrong "3D Lookup table interpolation" parameter in project settings.
For my LUT I will must select "Tetrahedral" interpolation. The way is:
Code: Select all
"Project settings" - "Color management" - "3D Lookup table interpolation"
