Audio panning doesn't work?

PostTue Sep 19, 2017 11:45 pm

Hi all.

I have a mono wave file in an audio track, synced with my video track.

Despite the panning controls showing the audio centered, it only comes out of the left speaker.

Is this a known problem?

Thanks!

I assume ur on DR14. Set the track type to mono in the timeline. Panning works then.

Thanks, Jack! That worked.

Now the question is: Why is this necessary? I don't have to do that in Premiere.

The default track type is stereo. This can be changed to default to mono.
Choose DAVINCI, PREFERENCES, USER, EDITING, NEW TIMELINE SETTINGS

I setup 00:00:00:00 as my start timecode, 1 video track, 2 audio and mono as the track type.
Do this once and this becomes the new default.

While you are in USER, I would turn on AUTO SAVE, LIVE SAVE. Very quick and automatic.

FCP7 only had mono tracks( I think) but I have no experience with Premiere. Are the tracks mono ?

Thanks!

The tracks in Premiere seem to be stereo at all times. I put stereo material in the timeline, and it appears as one track with two waveforms. Panning works.

I would be fine with mono tracks, as long as stereo material was deposited into two of them properly when added to the timeline.
