Davinci Resolve 14 problem

PostWed Sep 20, 2017 3:53 pm

Hi,
I thought it could be helpful to have a thread where people could point out the bugs or problems they found in Davinci Resolve 14. So they can be fixed.

Problems that I'm experiencing are:
- the playback performance is actually worse in 14 compared to 12.5
- my disk overloads regulary so Resolve 14 crashes. This makes it unusable for me. This didn't occur in 12.5

I'm curious if you experience similar problems.
Mainboard: Asus Maximus Ranger VII

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6870
RAM: 12 GB
Soundcard: Avid Eleven Rack

One gigabyte of VRAM isn't going to get you far in 14. I'd definitely look into upgrading the GPU

Neither are 8 GM RAM.

Thanks.

I know my hardware is far from being ideal.

Do you know why Resolve 14 needs more resources than 12.5? Is it because of Fairlight?

Also when the crashes happen my disk peaks suddenly. There is no high disk usage before it.
I would like to understand the cause of the problem.

Resolve is now doing immediate save, since it supports a history function.
Probably tries to record your last step.

I am having unexpected crashes with 14. More often the 12.5.

The more recent one was when I was experimenting with LUTs. It froze then crashed.

Another instance is when I was using the "new" stabilizer tool. I pressed Stabilized, the program froze, then windows indicated it has crashed.

There were other instances, however, I cannot remember what I did that cause it. If someone can help me solve these two problems that will be great.

My specs:
Windows 10 64bit (laptop).
Intel Core i7-7500U.
16GB RAM.
GeForce GTX 950M. 2GB RAM.
Intel HD 620.
500GB Solid Slate.
1TB HDD.
