Activation License Key and Dongle Update

The Serial number engraved on the Dongle is so faint that it is hard to read. I am certain many customers will make mistakes.

Anyhow, I sent an email to the Customer Support with the proof of purchase and the Dongle Serial number (if I did not make mistake in reading it.) Why were Dongle Serial Numbers not engraved on the plastic body of the dongle? This would have allowed to engraved in easy to read larger fonts.

The serial number is not on the dongle itself but rather on the packaging the stand alone software was purchased with or the serial number of the camera.

There is a Serial Number engraved on the Dongle. Long time ago Peter and Dwaine wrote it too:

The Serial number engraved on the Dongle and Serial number on the software package are two different serial numbers.

There is no serial number on the package of Resolve 12.5 Studio purchased in July.
Should it be here also? Or maybe only with previous versions?

Yes, there is on a white sticker above the barcode, at the lower right-hand side. Unless someone may have removed the sticker. It reads like Davinci Resolve Studio DV/RESSTUD then a barcode and a 7 digit number under the barcode.

I was reading the number wrong because printed digit have strange fonts and 5 looks like a 6. I sent an image of the DR box to support to resolve this issue.

How did you purchase it? Was it a 3rd party purchase left over from a camera sale (ie Ebay)? If so then BMD will not give an activation # for those.

Perhaps, it is a Resolve shipped with a BM Camera or other hardware. In that case camera's serial number is your DR serial number. Did you buy it from a third party, not an authorized dealer?

I emailed my dongle activation key to support using the online form. But it did not give me the option to attach my invoice. So what do I do?

I'm being asked for the serial from the boxes we have, plus proof of purchase AND photo's of the physical dongles too...

Then contact that seller and ask why were you supplied a box which had Serial Number missing. All the standalone Davinci Resolve boxes had a Serial number. If it is a bundled product with a BlackMagic Design hardware, e.g. Camera then your Resolve is attached to the attached ware serial number.
