Not able to choose GPU in Resolve 14

PostThu Sep 21, 2017 5:45 pm

Hello all!

I specifically remember seeing a drop down menu in Hardware Configuration during 14 beta where I was able to choose which GPU resolve was using. It was a huge selling point for me. However, after just purchasing 14 studio, I no longer see this dropdown and it is rather infuriating. It chooses to select my built in graphics and not my external 1080ti. Running a MacBook Pro with Akitio Node + Nvidia 1080ti. Was working fine before 14 was officially released. Please help!

Are you using the App Store Resolve Studio version?

Yes I am. Just purchased this morning. Is there a difference from the 299 version on the BlackMagic site?

Yes, there is. No CUDA (Apple has had no more Nividia cards recently), and quite a few other limitations due to restrictions imposed by Apple. Sorry to confirm bad news.

Perfect. Looking through old threads now. Anyone come up with an easy fix? Or is the headache more like "just buy another copy" which seems like the totally unacceptable route?

Can you return it to the App Store?

Great question. Submitted a refund request to Apple explaining the situation. The product says there are no refunds on this product, however. We’ll see where we can get.

Also, you could contest the charge with the credit card company. Good luck!

Watch out, Apple has good lawyers!
But in one case they refunded me when I could explain a problem with an Apple Store purchase.
