In Resolve 14: Where is Use Mac Display Color profile?

Urgently please....Simply so,

Where is the option: "Use Mac Display Color profile for viewers' (in Color Management) in Resolve 14?
or the equivalent?

It used to be in Project Settings > Color Management > "Use Mac Display Color profile for viewers' (in Color Managment) but no where to be found

In previous version i used to tick this off so i get a true representation of my grading/contrast as when i output. It was a known issue for Mac users that this had to be ticked off so as the in Resolve the picture of grade would be exact same to the shots when it gets exported.

I'm currently having the same issue in Resolve 14. The picture in the viewer is showing more darker/contrast than it actually is. I know that from looking/reading the Parade & also from looking at the outputted shot out of resolve (it'slighter)

But it seems not to have solved the issue fully.

There exported clip is still slighltly higher in contrast than the image shown in Resolve (vice-versa)

Any solutions?..... {huff}

Got a deadline

The display on the Mac is only getting close at best.
If you need proper monitoring, buy proper monitoring. It has been discussed around here a thousand times: an I/O device by BM and a calibrated monitor!

Read pp. 660-661 of the Resolve 14 manual: "Limitations When Grading With the Viewer on a Computer Display." This goes into some detail why you cannot accurately monitor directly from the computer and operating system. You have to have a color-managed output, like one from a Blackmagic display card, preferably on a calibrated Rec709 display.

if you really read this section carefully, you will apprehend, that it mostly speaks about actual limitations of davinci resolve. but that doesn't imply, that things can't be done better! more accurate/satisfaying color rendition on computer screens are a very common feature of almost any similar product.

Can someone explain why a calibrated monitor would help in this situation? I understand the point of a calibrated monitor to ensure accurate color between devices (kind of a global or "real" check). However, this seems to be an issue where an export appears different on the same monitor. Are you saying that OP's render, which seems to look different on the same iMac screen would look identical if he had graded and viewed the render on a calibrated monitor?

Why would this be so?

The way you use "cannot" here is very misleading. Yes there are limitations. But also depending on your output, you absolutely can *accurately* color grade in the GUI. Every time someone has trouble with the Mac Display Profile setting, people jump in and just tell them they need to buy hardware. And if their program is destined for h264 web streaming, they probably don't need to buy that hardware to get the software to perform in a reasonable way.

The Mac Display Profile setting needs to be off by default upon installation.

This might be because you are generating Rec.709 deliverables, but you didn’t set the Mac System Preferences/Display/Colour dialogue to use Rec.709. It may have defaulted to Apple’s preference for the computer monitor display which may be close to sRGB. If so, select Rec.709 and your Resolve viewer will be a lot closer to what you want assuming it’s reasonably well calibrated.

Along with unclicking Mac Display Color Profile it will vastly reduce the difference between what you see on the timeline and what the output looks like.

Bypassing input and output colour space in Color Managed is identical to having Color Managed turned off and just going with DaVinci YRGB (assuming you haven't manipulated Color Space settings at the clip level)

Not quite. Your timeline ends up color managed. Read the manual first
