Reviving an old thread.
I am experiencing something like this in 15.2
Once the playback stops working, trying to initiate playback results in no playback, but the little audio meter icon next to the volume bar registers brief burst of audio levels (although no audio plays back). Those levels fall to zero after about one second, and then nothing.
Anyone else experienced this?
I never had any problems of this sort.
Some details as to what happened today, that may shine some light on the problem.
1) My original source drive stopped mounting, so I switched to a backup drive, and relinked my timeline to it.
2) Playback was very choppy with a lot of dropped frames despite the timeline being very simple. So then I noticed that the SSD drive Resolve was using for caching was full. When I cleared some space on that drive, performance improved but not so much as to be considered normal. Frames were still dropping here and there, and audio would cut out regularly during playback.
3) I limped along this way but as the day wore on, playback would refuse to initiate altogether, more and more often. I'd restart Resolve and get back to work, only for it to happen again with increasing frequency. Monitoring the free space on the cache drive - there is still plenty of room.
