PostSun Oct 01, 2017 7:57 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have an HDR work flow for You Tube? I've tried everything and cannot get YT to read the video as HDR.

This is my workflow HDR for Youtube:
My Source is S-Gamut3.Cine/SLog3 - 3840x2160 25p - Sony PXW-FS7

Settings for HDR editing
- Preferences - User
Color: Enable HDR Scopes for ST.2084
- Project Settings - Master Settings
Video Monitoring: Enable HDR metadata over HDMI
- Project Settings - Color Management - Color Space & Transforms
Color science: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed
Use Separate Color Space and Gamma
Input Color Space: Bypass (or you can select Sony S-Gamut3.Cine)
Timeline Color Space: Rec.2020 - ST2084 1000 nit
Output Color Space: Rec.2020 - ST2084 1000 nit
HDR Mastering is for: 1000 nits

Do your grading on a HDR monitor (I'm using a HDR TV linked to the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K)

Settings for Delivery
- Video: Format: QuickTime - Codec: DNxHR HQX 10-bit - Resolution: 3840x2160 UHD - Frame Rate: 25
Pixel aspect ratio: Square - Data Levels: Auto (Video)
- Audio: Codec: Linear PCM - Bit Depth: 16 - Output Track 1: Main 1 (Stereo)
- File: Filename uses: Timeline name
The output file is arround 5GB / minute

To view this video in HDR, you need a monitor or TV that supports HDR.
The YouTube app must also support HDR (like the Chromecast Ultra or Sony UBP-X800 UHD Blu-ray player).
The HDMI input of the monitor or TV must be set to Enhanced format (if applicable).
The picture mode must be set to HDR and the color space to BT.2020 (usually this happens automatically if the TV supports HDR).

Hope this will help.

Thank you all for the responses!! I still cannot get YouTube HDR to work. I've followed Geert Geerits' instructions step by step but no luck. Then I tried MysteryBox settings but no luck getting YT HDR to work there either. Below are my test videos. What else could I be missing?

Both clips are playing in HDR on my TV.

It is important that the Youtube app supports HDR.

Hi Geert:
May I ask which monitor are you using for editing HDR video?
