Resolve Studio 14 - Problem exporting HLG H.264 to YouTube

I am a Panasonic GH5 user and I am HLG recording in HEVC/H.265 3840x2160 25p 4:2:0 10-bit (no other HLG/HEVC option available in GH5).

I have successfully uploaded a test HLG video clip to YouTube directly from my GH5 SD card in my PC and I can view the HLG video using the YouTube app in my 2017 LG OLED TV - which displays an [HDR/HLG] logo on start up. The LG on-screen analyzer also confirms the video as being HLG 3840x2160UHD.

But when I run the same clip through Davinci Resolve Studio 14 (I am not concerned about any color correction at this time) setting Input Color Space; TimeLine Color Space; Output Color Space; all to REC.2020 HLG ARIB STD-B67 - the exported file - MP4/H.264 at 3840x2160UHD 25p will not upload to YouTube as HLG albeit the video uploads & runs OK.

Any thoughts what I might be doing wrong ?

Also when I import the HEVC HLG file into Resolve Studio 14 it is reporting file details eg 3840x2160 HEVC etc - but there's no mention of the file being HLG.

I have also tried using Rec2100 HLG and exporting with DNxHR HQX .mov success.

I am wondering if there's a problem with GH5 HEVC HLG files importing properly to Resolve Studio 14 plus I get the same problem with All-Intra from GH5 recorded with HLG.

You have to tell Resolve this is HLG clip. I t won't recognise it automatically. MOV etc. flagging is not reliable/used enough. Use color managed project, right click on clip and assign correct color space.

Many thanks for reply. I have followed YouTube instructions regarding HDR uploading plus I have tried different HLG color spaces without success. Are you saying I need to tell Resolve Studio 14 upon importing that it is an HLG file and if so where do I do that ?

It say in message above. Right click, Input Color space and assign correct setting. Your project has to be set to color managed.
Latest resolve should set correct headers on export assuming your project is setup properly as HLG.
I'm not sure if this headers are set correctly for h264. Use MOV and some intermediate codec.

Hi Andrew - Many thanks for your advice. I have eventually managed to successfully upload HLG to YouTube using Quicktime/DNxHR HQX 12-bit - only problem being is that file sizes are approx 10x of HEVC/H.265 - so I have posted a request - along with all my reasons - for Blackmagic to include HEVC/H.265 export, hopefully in a Resolve Studio 14.x
