check me on this, please? (multiple resolutions)

i'm seeing that resolve doesn't allow for each timeline to have a different resolution and that the way around that is to keep switching the project resolution. ok. i can do that. couple of questions, though.

my input footage is 2048x1152 (16x9). i cut in that resolution and now want to output. no problem outputting at that resolution. for 1998x1080, however, i changed the project resolution to 1998x1080 and got a frame that was pillared slightly. looked like resolve had kept the entire frame and scaled it down to fit the 1.85 format.

my solution was to, in addition to changing the project resolution, change the image scaling to 'scale full frame with crop.' is that the right way to get the frame horizontally full but cropped top and bottom. seemed like it worked but i'm completely new to resolve and it's, needless to say, deep and growing.

thanks,
g

My own preference is to edit in a timeline that matches my output. I also prefer the Scale with Crop to fill the frame.

thanks, jim. how do you deal with multiple output formats, then. pick one for editing and then do something like i described for the others?

thanks again,
g

Yes, the way you did it is a common and valid way to do it.

For multiple deliverables, I'll edit at the highest resolution and downsample the additional outputs.
