Resolve 14.1 crash Mac

PostMon Nov 13, 2017 11:46 am

Hi,
After installing Resolve 14.1 on my Mac, the program crashed at starting up. As far as I can see there's a problem with the update of the Progress database. A deinstall of the program and reinstall of version 14.0.1 solved the problem so far. But upgrade to 14.1 is not possible. Any ideas?

Important Information regarding Database Management
DaVinci Resolve 14.1 requires a database upgrade from DaVinci Resolve 14.0.1 and previous versions.
We strongly recommend that you backup your existing database (both DiskDB and PostgreSQL) before performing an upgrade.

Perhaps open the DaVinci Resolve Project Server application (contained within the DaVinci Resolve folder inside Applications folder), right click on the Database requiring an upgrade and select "Optimize".

Both local and PostgreSQL databases are accessible within 14.1 on my system without crashes.

It works again. I deleted the program and manually all the DaVinci files in the library/application support folder. Then a "fresh" install of version 14.1 and a restore of the database. So creating a backup of the database beforte an upgrade is absolutely a "must".

Hello,

Hoping all is well. Perhaps someone can help me with my upgrade from 14.0.1 to 14.1.

I am experiencing the same crash issue. As per the suggestion above, I deleted all Application Support files, then deleted and reinstalled the app. I have two database backups - one disk, one postgres - both of which contain the same project, saved to the same exact state. Both databases were reimported and upgraded successfully.

And just to note...

1. The postgres database was optimized before backup.
2. I copied the optimized project in the postgres database to the disk database, in effect, creating two identical databases. Both of which worked perfectly well in version 14.0.1.

When attempting to open EITHER of the two projects, however, the progress bar gets to 88% and the app either quits (in most cases) or gets stuck in "spinning-ball" hell. I can never get my projects to open. Only the "Untitled" project opens.

I'm running OS X 10.13.1 on a late model Mac Pro "trash can" with 64GB Ram.

Anyone's help would be appreciated. The situation is maddening.

Kindly advise if you will.

It'd help a great deal!

Thanks!

I'm on windows10 but does your project from 14.01 have titles?
If so that could be the issue when upgrading from 14.01 to 14.1
Try opening a test project and timeline and exit DR when on either the colour or deliver page. Restart DR and try loading your project. It may just load but you still will not be able to get back to the edit page.
Good luck

Hoho :( Here added to there viewtopic.php?f=21&t=66930 when I wanted to ugrade these days... Hmm  ... I think I'm going to wait a bit...

@Rob : Don't expect any improvement here, but did you try to open the untitled one, untick performance mode and any render mode, close and re-try to open another project after ?
The only time I had the beach ball at launch around 90% of openness was when Resolve had problems finding rendered files. At this occasion I also noticed perf mode was cross-projects on or off . Maybe the DB upgrade created the same issue.
