Lost HDMI output after upgrading to Resolve 14.1

PostMon Nov 13, 2017 9:57 pm

Lost my Decklink HDMI display after updating from 14 to 14.1. Even after updating my Decklink drivers, still a total black output from my Decklink HDMI output from Resolve. ( Lost the Decklink display in the system overview by upgrading the drivers) On 14 it was working fine this morning. I am running it on a MacPro 2009 with latest Sierra. After playing around with the settings 25P or 50i still total black output on my HDMI LG monitor. What are the recommended settings in Resolve and Decklink. 25P or 50i ?

What Desktop Video driver did you update to?

What specific BMD card do you have?

Are you using Resolve Studio or the free version?

And you are using Sierra 10.12.6?

Did clean install uninstall first. Power down the Mac. Switch on Mac and installed new drivers and restart. Still black output. Did this first with 10.9.3 and also with 10.9.7 Same Result.

I solved my problem by changing the "GPU Processing Mode" from CUDA to AUTO under the "Hardware Configuration" tab in Preferences.

I don't know if that will solve your problem Stephan, but it solved mine.

Good luck....

@Stephan: I've set up a test scenario here nearly identical to yours, and it works for me. I'm feeding an HP Dreamcolor Z27x.

So it should work.

Can you verify that in Resolve Preferences - System - Video and Audio I/O - that you see the Mini Monitor card available to be selected, and that it is selected? Assuming it is selected, select None, save the prefs and restart Resolve, then select the Mini Monitor again, save the prefs and restart Resolve. Does that make any difference?

Have you tried other Video Monitoring modes, like Pal, and the HD720 selections?

Still no Results. Went back to 10.9.3
Did a fresh install. First un install, power down, restart an installed 10.9.3, restart, unstalled Resolve 14.1, restart and installed 14.1. Still a black output from Resolve on the Decklink Mini monitor. When I switch in the Decklink set up menu, I see on my LG monitor that it is connected by glitches.

Can I go back to Resolve 14.01? To see if that works. Getting a bit disparate almost trying to get it working again.

Regards Stephan

Thanks that makes all the difference. Only lost my aspect settings on my LG Ultra-wide it now stuck in the wide mode. Switched to 25P solved that as well.

Thanks Dwaine, up and running again.

Is it possible to give a step by step ( for Dummies) guide for installing new builds of Resolve 14.
Was also a bit of a puzzle with updating the new database.

I am on 10.9.3 with the Mini Monitor and is working fine.
Is there a reason to go to 10.9.7?
Bit worried that I can not open the settings for 10.9.7 in the system settings from Sierra. Can open it from the app in programs. Is that a bug or a feature?

The 10.9.7 issue of not being able to launch Desktop Video Setup from Mac System Preferences is a bug and hopefully fixed in the next Desktop Video release.

Hello,

I'm having a similar issue after upgrading to 14.1. I have an Ultra Studio mini monitor linked from my iMac to my FSI BM240 that stopped working, it's black. I can see the device in the Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup and the monitor will show the changes in Output Format selection, but no image.

I added the latest Blackmagic Converter Setup, thinking this was new software, but it says "? No Converter Found."

I checked in the DR System Preferences under Video and Audio I/O, but there is no selection for the Mini Monitor when there was before.

My Postgres is also acting up, but I only use local databases. Still, I'm not sure if these are all part of the bugs you mentioned or something else. I'd hate to have to downgrade, 14 is fast!

Looks like I also had to update the Desktop Video Setup Software after updating Resolve. I'll leave my post up as a reminder for the next time I wonder what happened. I do wish desktop update notifications were added to all of Blackmagic's drivers and software. There are so many updates, it's easy to miss them. Even an email notification list, but desktop notifications would be best.
