How do I re-link an offline clip to a different clip?

PostTue Nov 21, 2017 8:08 pm

I have some preview music tracks I used in my edit. The name of the song is "name-preview.mp3" I have already edited the music and mixed it. All I want to do is replace the "preview" clip with the sound watermarks with the final purchased version, whose clip name is "name.mp3." Since the new clip's filename is different from the preview clip, Resolve will not simply re-link since its looking for a clip by the same name.

I've run into this issue multiple times with other media as well. So how can I simply re-link a clip to a different piece of media using Resolve? Seems like this should be a pretty straight forward and basic task as in other NLE apps.

Page 186 of the DR14 manual.

1. Select the new clip in the bin
2. Select the clip in the timeline
3. Right click
4. Select "Conform lock with media pool clip"

Or you can use the Conform from Bins option, allowing you to link based on numerous metadata parameters.

Thanks. The conform to lock selected clip worked two out of three times. The third time, the music track didnt line up with the track in the sequence at all, despite them being the same length, etc. Also have multiple instances of that music track in the sequence.

While the conform to lock selected clip technique helps, its not exactly what I was asking about. I was hoping there was a way to replace the source clip in the media pool, thus, replacing all the instances where it occurs in the sequence as well.
