Multichannel audio

I'm trying to sync two separate audio tracks to the same video clip. I'm doing this manually in the media tab. The problem occurs after I've linked one of the tracks to the clip. It seems like I can only have one audio track linked to the clip. If I link the other one, it unlinks the first audio clip.
I'm probably missing something here, because in the clip attributes I can select "Linked channel 1" so I just assumed that if I linked another one, it would be refered to as "Linked channel 2", but that doesn't happen.
Help would be much appreciated
