HDR Grading

PostFri Dec 08, 2017 3:00 pm

Hello,

my name is Benjamin Maison, I'm a 3D Programmer at Eidos Montreal.
We recently switch our graphic pipeline to ACES, and we use Resolve Studio
to create LUTs in order to apply a look to our games.
We export footages from the game in the EXR file format, that is encoded using ACEScc (AP1 and ACES log encoding)
Although it works fine when we grade on an SDR screen, we are having trouble using Resolve Studio on an HDR screen.
We are using Windows 10 Creative Update, the screen HDR mode is enabled (both in Windows and on the screen itself),
the project settings uses the color science ACEScc, the ACES IDT is ACEScc and finaly, the ODT is set to Rec.2020 ST2084 (1000nits).
With those settings, Resolve Studio keeps showing us the footage as if the screen was displaying SRD content (sRGB),
wrong colors and washed out image (cleary an ST2084 going through the sRGB gamma curve).
Am I missing something settings wise ?

Thanks for your help,

Ben

You should enable HDR in Resolve by going in to the color page, right click on a node in the node panel and select HDR.
