Hi,
Let me start by saying that I know the setup I'm currently using (listed in the signature below) is a stretch to begin with. However, I'm stuck with it for the next 5-6 months as I am currently travelling but all I'm after here is enough workability to use Resolve in a learning capacity rather that for outputting any work.
I got the official Ripple training about 2 months back, whilst still on plain old Sierra - to keep me ticking over whilst on the move. I downloaded Resolve 14 directly from the Blackmagic website. Once I'd configured Resolve to use the least amount of processing power seemingly possible, I was able to get through the lessons without any big issues. Until I tried to load Lesson 10 into the timeline and Resolve started crashing - no wheel of death or error message, just closing in a flash as if I'd chosen to close it myself.
I assumed this was a titling or transition issue - either a bug in the version release or, more likely, my computer couldn't handle it. But I tried all the usual steps anyway - I uninstalled the Resolve I had, installed it from the app store instead, reducing the timeline res, lower quality proxies etc. But it was still happening. So I just went through the first lessons again, all with no problems.
When 14.1 came out, I thought it might solve the problem. So I updated. Same thing again, except this time, the crashing start happening in earlier lessons, with far less information in the timelines. I uninstalled and put the version from the website on again. No change.
I then upgraded to High Sierra, in desperation more than anything. And now I'm in an even worse position - Resolve will only stay open for 2-10 minutes regardless of what is loaded in the timeline or what actions I'm actually taking. Feeling pretty crushed right now.
Below, I've attached the latest info of the last few crashes from the crash logs - seems to be the same thing repeating every time.
Can anyone spot something that I might actually be able to fix rather than it just being my base system that's the cause? Like I said, I don't need huge functionality here, just enough to get through the training basics.
Thanks in advance,
Ian
