Fairlight page

PostSun Dec 17, 2017 9:05 am

I am finding it increasing difficult if not to say impossible to work with the Fairlight page.

The latest issue is the automation of clip levels which suddenly stops working, even if the screen displays the recorded level changes.

In the 1st screen shot you can see that the fader is set at -10db and should descend by x db when the yellow clip plays

In the 2nd screenshot you can see that the output level is unaffected when the playhead is on the clip i.e the fader has not moved as it was recorded

In the 3rd screenshot you can see that each 'recording' using automation is recorded even if the automation is on 'write/Latch/return' setting. There is no obvious way of deleting previous 'recordings'

Am I doing something wrong or is there a setting I have missed? Any suggestions appreciated

Though you cannot just highlight the automation waveform and delete it as you can in Pro Tools, overwriting works, or you could look at the undo history and delete there. No problems here with the automation functions. It might help if we could see the whole of your Fairlight page so we can see your settings.

Charles, I'm sure overwriting works for you, but are you seeing old versions on your screen like Thom is?

I don't think workarounds is the way to go. I have had to revert to keying the tracks in the edit page which seems solid enough.

I have a sneaking suspicion that its only the level automation which is faulty, the panning seems to remember itself ok.

Peter, in reply to you, no, no old passes stay. That is why I said it is working as it should. It behaves as I expect it to.

it seems to fail after about 40 minutes into the project. Have tested just rendering audio in 5:1 and the same happens there

seems only to affect the 'stereo' track which is used for music.
