Davinci Resolve ignores NR nodes when rendering

PostSun Dec 17, 2017 10:45 pm

When I set up NR, everything looks fine and smooth in the viewer, but when I start rendering, the image becomes noisy, it looks like Davinci Resolve turns off all NR nodes during delivery. When I compare the rendered videos with NR and without NR, they look the same. I tried different settings without luck.

UPDATE: it happens only when I check "Render at source resolution"

Davinci Resolve: 14.2.0.012
OS: MacOS High Sierra 10.13.2
PC: New MacPro D700 + eGPU GTX ti1080

Are you running Studio? The native NR is only available on Studio.

And what's the source material's format? And can you provide a link to a sample?

Yes, I'm using Studio

I'm grading a DPX sequence (16mm film scan). You can find a sample there:

Andrey, will do. BTW, what's your project frame rate and timeline resolution?

Thanks! The frame rate is 25fps, the resolution is FullHD, but rendering is set to deliver graded footages at source resolution anyway (aprox 4K)

Hi, I tested it out using the following:

Temporal NR

Frames 2
Mo Est Typ: Faster
Mo Rng: Small

Threshold
Luma and Chroma 100
Motion 28.9

Blend 0

Timeline res was HD 25P. I rendered DNxHR 444 DCI Scope. The noise reduction definitely shows up in the render.

Here's a link to the render: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ugcz844t9lig ... R.mov?dl=0

If you want to create a project with the same sample clip and provide a link to a .drp, I can test that. Good luck!

Hi Andrey,

I had a similar issue with Resolve 14b8.

"Rendering with the "Render at source resolution" checkbox selected results in rendering without the tracker.
I first noticed this with the Face Refinement OFX plugin, which does the same thing.
Setting the output render resolution manually fixes the issue."

This may be what is happening.

Peter, interesting! That could be it. I set the render resolution to DCI Scope, which is not exactly the source resolution.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for information. It really solved the issue, when I manually set resolution to the source resolution, it works like a charm. I guess it can be considered as a bug.

Have you tried to render at source resolution?

Perhaps this is a Mac thing? As I still see the noise reduction, even when choosing "Individual clips" and "Render at source resolution."

Or perhaps there is some other setting in your project that I'm not replicating?
