Resolve Dependancy packages?

PostThu Jan 18, 2018 8:43 am

Does anyone have a list of all the Windows add-ons, DLL's or installation packages, needed for Resolve to function.

Ideally they would all be included in the Resolve download, but some of the error messages I've seen on Win7 installs lead me to download different parts from MS,... but I'm still new to Win10, so no idea on what extras are needed.

Everything is in the downloaded exe. If you're trying to deploy it on a network, there are cmd switches to extract the individual MSI installers.

Btw, Windows 7 isn't supported for Resolve 14. If you install Resolve 14 on a fresh install of Win 10, it'll work perfectly fine.

Hi,

I'm trying to make a Windows network/portable install of Resolve 14.2 and I have been quite unsuccessful so far. I have extracted the ResolveInstaller.msi file from the main Davinci_Resolve_14.2_Windows.exe installer. I then deployed the former on a VM and Resolve starts fine on it. However if I copy the installation directory onto a new computer and try to launch Resolve on this computer, the application won't start with no error message shown.

So far I could not find any logs or command line options to help me understand what is going on. For reference, the computer uses the same image than the VM so I doubt it is dependency related but I will double check.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, cheers,

Thomas

I did install Resolve 14 on a fresh install of Windows10, on a PC that was bought at the start of January 2018.

Win10 up to date.
Intel NUC7i7BN drivers up to date.
Resolve 14 fails on start up - installed and showed ticks of approval next to hardware tests during install.

Hi,

I'm running Windows System State Analyzer on the VM to try finding what could be the issue.

Cheers,

Download Resolve 14.2.1, installed, opens, appears to run.
Time to try a basic edit and see if it crashes or not.

Hi,

Found a bit of time to figure out what was going on. I did use OSForensics to compare the system state before/after Resolve installation and it turns out that the installer puts a ton of files in C:\ProgramData
and that if you don't have those files at this exact location, Resolve won't start.

Is there an environment variable/command line argument that one can set to let Resolve use another location for those files? I tried to change %ALLUSERSPROFILE% to an arbitrary location without success which seems to hint at the fact the path is maybe hardcoded into the executable.

Cheers,

Thomas
