Database Drive Path Letter "failed to save"

PostThu Jan 18, 2018 3:54 pm

Just encountered an issue of my own making that may help other editors.

I created a new database on a removable drive E://. I dragged in an existing project, all media was offline. All media was on the E:// drive, but Resolve knew it as R://. I changed the drive path letter in Windows and my media came online. Upon trying to save I was given the error "Davinci failed to save".

As Davinci doesn't ever give a reason for failing to save, it took me a few minutes to figure out why. So to all editors out there, watch out for this, as there is never a way to make Davinci save after this error message occurs without losing all your work. And to Blackmagic, please give proper error messages, and make it possible to save without losing all work. I have run out of HDD space before, received the message, made space, and still not been able to save. It makes no sense.
