basic layout questions

PostThu Jan 18, 2018 8:42 pm

Hello,

I'm new to Davinici and I think I am the most happy with it out of the numerous other VEs I've tried.
I am hoping I will be in it for the long haul.

some basic questions that can be seen on image I have attached.
1.
Suddenly, I got two windows appearing when there was only one before. it doesn't bother me, but is this going to be a problem at all?

2. the area I have X-ed off is an area I don't need. I want to get rid of that and extend the timeline over to left more (arrow is pointing that direction) is this possible?

Image
thanks

I couldn't get the image to show properly

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Color correction window or editing window?

Which version of Resolve? What OS? What hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM, I/O)?

Reading the manual would be helpful for these issues. Or the Resolve book that was linked, is a faster and easier way to get up to speed, rather than reading the 1300+ page manual.

At the top of your screen shot, if you click on Media Pool and Edit Index, they will un-highlight, like the Effects Library selection currently is. These are toggles for their respective windows. If you turn all 3 off, the timeline will fill the bottom.

The 2nd screen you have highlighted is the Source Viewer window, which you can read about in the manual. As easy way to make that go away is to select Inspector in the upper right.

No idea which kind of window it is. I think I'm going to start over with my project because I'm running into other issues.
