I just got resolve as an alternate to windows movie maker and I know there is a lot to learn, but I have having trouble with basic transitions. After the few tutorials I watched, it seemed simple enough to drag it from the Video FX onto the clips. However, when I try to play back to see if the timing needs tweaking, the video cuts to black for the duration of the transition. If I pause the video, the preview returns at whatever middle state it was in (halfway through a dissolve or a wipe). It also happens if I drag the white marker and try to fade a clip to black. I haven't found any other instances about people experiencing the same thing and it's a bit annoying to be limited to normal hard cuts.
(Non-critical bonus question) I had some issue rendering out in 30 fps but when I switched to 24 fps it worked fine. Will I need to switch my mindset to 24 fps when shooting (canon 80D) so I have the least amount of issues? I'm mostly going to use it for uploading in 1080p on youtube if that helps.
