1080 to 4k round trip workflow?

PostSat Jan 20, 2018 11:43 pm

I have a project that was shot on Ursa Mini at 4K DNG anamorphic and off-lined at 1920x1080 in a 1920x800 sequence. I’m trying to keep any sizing and pan and scan effects in order.

Is it possible to do a round trip XML workflow and upon export spitout an XML that is a 4K version of the timeline in Resolve that respects the sizing?

I’m all good on re-linkling to the original 4K media. I just want to know if can keep the sizing data from the xml but have an xml that gives me a 4K timeline.

Normally when I work in Resolve I choose ignore sizing because I get sizing issues on mismatched resolution sequences so it’s easier to ignore altogether.

Generally, I don’t bake in any sizing and export the timeline as media original.

I’ve done tests and worst case scenario is I just bring back a 1920x800 sequence with 4K material and redo the resizing. Not a huge issue but just curious if there is a better way?
