Audio trouble in Resolve 14.3

PostMon Feb 12, 2018 9:11 pm

Hi, As I don't get a reply from the Blackmagic support (not very nice) I'll try this way...

After installing the 14.3 update, the audio (.wav file) has drop outs, cracks and some other noisy stuff. This happens in all pages except in the Fairlight page (??). Am I really the only one with this problem? In 14.2 the audio had a sync problem, now this...

any clue?
Thanks!

Make sure that your audio is at a constant bitrate and not a variable one, as this sounds like a clocking issue with the audio. You would also encounter this sort of problem if your video is at a variable frame rate and not a constant one and the audio is at a constant bitrate.
Download the free Mediainfo app and check your video files under the Text tab.

I haven't seen this yet in 14.3 Studio under Windows 10 Pro (1709).

You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thank you Charles. I'll look into that. What concerns me is that this does not happen in the Fairlight page. How can this be explained? I've looked it up and it seems that in older versions, many users had a similar problem.
There where suggestions all over the place but not many of them seemed to work (I've tried them all).
I also remember that Premiere Pro had a similar problem for many users. From what I've found out on the www, it seems that it is a common NLE problem.

But first of all, I'll try your suggestions and get back here.

P.S.: still no reply from the Blackmagic through support...

Hello Piet
I am like you: in trouble.
What is your system? ref: you do not communicate anything. Not easy to play the devinets?
I'm old: it's cracking too, but it's my bones :) .

Re: Audio trouble in Resolve 14.3 [SOLVED]

Hello everyone,
Sorry for the late response. I took the time to dig deeper into the problem. The solution is simple, but you have to put some money on the table

I replaced the Resolve cache HDD with a 2TB SSD. Problem solved. So the solution is (no matter what version, no matter what OS etc... use a SSD!)

OS: Windows 10 64 bit
Windows 10 pro 64 bit - DR 16.1.1 - Intel Core i9-9940x CPU @3.30GHz - 128 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti | Studio driver 442.19 - BenQ PD series 4K monitor - 4 x SSD's 2TB - No internet connection - No antivirus - Audio through Voicemeeter
