Will DR 14 dongle run Studio 12.5 ?

Hi, DR 14 does not run correctly on my Windows PC. I currently am using 12.5 FREE Edition but would like to upgrade to 12.5 Studio without buying a dongle used from an auction site. If I purchase the new DR 14 with dongle will that run my DR 12.5 Studio edition until I get a new pc to be able to use 14 ???? thanks for any info

It is my understanding that all dongles are the same and will work on any version.

I bought a dongle second hand when DR was at 12.5 and it's still going on DR 14. No idea what version DR was in when the dongle was bought originally.
