TCP protocol for Resolve Transport Control

PostThu Mar 01, 2018 12:47 am

Referencing the DaVinci Resolve March 2017 12.5 manual, there is transport control (chapter 46). My assumption, after reading this, was that a running Resolve instance would open up a listener on port 9060. However a netstat shows no port open with Resolve running, and attempting to connect with nc of course fails.

So my question is: How do I enable this Resolve Transport Control server mode?

Running Resolve 12.5 Studio, version 12.5.6.017. Mac OS X 10.12.6.

Thank you.

This chapter in the Resolve 14 manual has added this key bit of info:

To use this protocol, you must first type the following string into the Advanced panel of the
DaVinci Resolve System Preferences:
System.Remote.Control = 1

Hm... been there done that. "netstat" still doesn't show 9060 associated to "resolve.exe".
Can someone please confirm that this is the correct port..?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, that's the correct port, at least in versions under 17.4. I haven't used it in 17.4.x yet. Here is a demo of an app that controls Resolve via TCP/IP.

Ok - thanks for this information. Your video is very impressive inspiring!

But I was not precise enough: I am using the free version 17.4.1 on Windows 10.
Can you maybe tell me if your netstat is showing resolve.exe listening on port 9060?
If I run netstat I can only see it listening to 47001 and 49664.

On Windows 10 the command is "netstat -ab". Run it for a few seconds, interrupt with CTRL-C and use CTRL-F to search for resolve. (Just in case you do not know).

Thanks again for your help!
