Low fps rate with moving images

PostWed Mar 07, 2018 12:03 pm

Hi !

I'm making a sort of animation clip for my band, with artworks to which I insert camera movement so that it feels like we are moving through the artwork.

The problem is that when I make the effect moving fast, the fps rate becomes quite low and the movement is not fluid anymore. I tried to render it to see if it was due to Resolve's "calculation" time, but it isn't, as it's still not fluid after it's exported.

Anyone has an idea how to solve this ?

Update : I changed the clip attributes in the media pull and put it 60 fps but doesn't change anything.

Hi Yannis

What is your clip's original frame rate? and does it match your Timeline frame rate (in Project Settings)

Original frame rate is 24 ans same for the project settings.
I created a new project to be able to match the project settings with the image settings ( i put it both at 60 fps ), but didn't work.

What do you mean by "match the project settings with the image settings" and why 60?

I meant match the timeline settings with the clips settings !
60 fps isn't good ? I thought the more there is frames the more it gets fluid ?

If timeline is 24 and you out a 200 for clip you haven't more smoothness, every nle simply discard 176 frame every second. Smoothness is how you shoot or animate clip, later you could do nothing or less.
Try to study the principle of animation and motion then you can try with motion blur addition from resolve studio and hope is enough to solve your problem

If you interpret you 24p footage like 60p you have only speed up it. It could be more fluid if you capture and play at 60fps.

The problem is that it is a picture, not a video, so I might be able to make it fluid no ?

Basically it's static images to which I give some basic camera movements to create a dynamic effect for a music animated clip. For example this image, I zoom on it and then put some camera movements from the bottom left to the top left.

Sounds like motion blur is what you're looking for.

Like roger said, Motion blur will definitely help but as long as there isn't a Motion Blur OFX in Resolve, I can't think of any way you'd be able to implement one on your moving still, even using 3rd party plugins.

Maybe your animation is too fast? slowing it down would be the other solution to motion blurring it. There is only a given distance a line can travel in 1/24th of a second before it starts flickering (none fluid)
