Can't delete render caches or optimized media.
Posted: Thu Mar 08, 2018 1:38 amI know this has been covered before, but all of the answers I've seen refer to earlier versions of DaVinci (circa 12. I'm on 14), and I can't figure out what's going wrong.
I used to store my render cache and optimized media locally, at ~/Movies. There's currently a 1TB cache clip folder there, which I'd like to prune. I've been using the CacheClip/*/info.txt file to find the worst offenders (the projects which use the largest cache), opening them in the project manager, then deleting the optimized media and render cache files through the Playback menu. However, the files do not disappear in the Finder, no mater how many times I restart Davinci, or my mac.
Should I just delete the files in Finder?
I've since moved to a postgres database, and gotten a 4TB RAID for caching. Is the problem with the cache files not deleting related to the fact that the old cache location is no longer listed in my Media Storage Locations?
While I'm at it, I might as well admit that I've never really understood the Media Storage dialogue. It says, "The first Media Storage location in the above list will be used to store gallery stills and cache files. This location should be permanently connected to your system." If the first slot determines the cache files' locations, why is there more than one slot? Also, the internal startup disk is more "permanently attached" than an external RAID. Can somebody explain this confusing dialogue box to me better than the manual, which I find equally frustrating with respect to this subject.
