Resolve Lite - Problem importing DV Tape

PostTue Mar 13, 2018 7:18 pm

First post here!

Downloaded Resolve Lite (free) today to test the editor. I understand that this version does not support every file format, but I cannot understand why it will not accept importing old dv tapes (PAL 720x576). When browsing through different media files, Resolve will recognize .mts-files (1080P), but strangely, not my dv tapes (as .avi-files). Any insight would be nice!

I would find a 3rd-party program to convert the AVI files to a file format that Resolve can handle. It's true that Resolve Studio can handle a larger number of H.264 file formats than the standard version.

Well, DV is not exactly H.264.
I'd get me any old program still supporting it and convert.
I remember that older versions of DR did support tape ingest too, but I'm not sure about DV.

I am in the process of converting my DV tapes using Handbrake (free software). Converting 279GB (1394 files in 25 DV tapes) is boring, but I guess there is no way around it ;)
