Slow UI interactivity response

PostThu Mar 15, 2018 6:55 pm

Hi,

I first want to point out this is not a performance issue. I can playback beautifully with lots of grade nodes and NR etc!

So I have a 60 min timeline that I am grading, most media is RED 2K up to 6K, this has all been conformed using a trim method so I don't have lots and lots of unused media in my project. Like I said grading and playing is absolutely fine, but when I am navigating between clips in the colour page, or doing any kind of edit page operation (even for eg deactivating a clip) I get the windows spinning circle for 2-3 seconds each time!

In the colour page I can go to the next clip fine, but if I apply a grade and then try and go to the next clip I also get a spinning circle. Scrubbing in the edit page is fine, but any timeline interaction causes this little hiccup.

Annoying but not world ending! Any ideas appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul

Can you detail your OS and CUDA and GPU driver versions?

Hi Peter,

It's Windows 10 (v1709) (no updates available as of today)

Nvidia Drivers:
390.77

It's worth noting that this sluggishness is only in this project - all other projects are fine. I'm on 14.3 and I've exported a DRP and imported into a new database (SQL) and still the same.

I guess you are on 14.3?

Likely if its just this project the 6K media is using a lot of resources.
If you are close to finishing the project, i would grin an bare it.
if not, make a second project backup, import that and verify it works.
Then remove the K6000 and just use the Titan to see if that helps.

Yes I'm on 14.3 - I think i'll grin and carry on - i'm almost done. That pairing of cards isn't the most ideal, but it's been necessary as i've migrated this system away from DS to Resolve/Fusion over the last few years.

I might try and load the project without the media attached and see what happens then. We also tried opening the project on a fast i7 machine which had the same issue so i expect it is just a resources thing. I might try and be even more careful I only have media I need in the media pool next time.

Thanks,

Paul

I see the same here. I assumed it was the Live Save operating. (It lasts for less than half a second each time.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
