Capture option is greyed out

PostMon Mar 19, 2018 11:13 am

Hi

I'm a newbie to DaVinci Resolve, though I've used some other editing software before. I have a Panasonic DV camcorder, with a MiniDV tape I want to capture. However, the capture option under the file menu is disabled and the capture button doesn't show up in the Media panel. I'm using the free version of DaVinci Resolve 14.3 under macOS 12.6. Capturing doesn't seem to be one of the missing features in the free version.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello,
capture in DaVinci Resolve, either free or Studio, is supported only for the Blackmagic Design capture devices. There is no support for FireWire or similar camera connections.
You will need to perform capture of the material outside of Resolve in this case.

Thank you for the reply! I'm going to look for another option to import.

You can still run the older QT Player Pro 7 under your system. It has an option to transfer DV, if I remember well.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
