Resolve 14.3 not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit?

PostWed Apr 04, 2018 11:09 pm

New Resolve user...fully functional Resolve with h264 and HEVC exporting on my old, but very slow, Macbook Pro. Put Resolve on my faster i76700K/GTX1050 desktop PC to try and speed up h264 and HEVC exports, but having issues. Any settings when trying to spit out a simple 720p60 timeline to mp4 or mov h264, results in "failed to encode video frame" error. Also, there is no HEVC output option on the Windows version?

I read on a post somewhere, that Resolve is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit, so I loaded Resolve 14.3 onto a backup i7-3770/GT730 Windows 10 64 bit PC, and it was able to export in h264 without issue.

So...is my problem Windows 7 incompatibility, and is HEVC available on Windows platform without purchasing Suite?

Win7 is no longer supported, but you should be able to export HD h.264 using the bit rate limit (rather than the "quality" option) under Win7. No h.264 exports will be possible in UHD or higher, however, with Win7.

h.265 export isn't currently supported in the Windows version of Resolve.

Yeah, setting bitrate not functioning either. Will relegate this rig to DNxHR HQX 10 bit exports I guess. Shame I can't use my speedy PC for HEVC. :(

Thanks for the info.

You can, render in Resolve to an intermediate and then use ffmpeg for HEVC.

Hopefully we will get some good news about HEVC and Resolve in a week or so........ ;)

I use Handbrake for my 10 bit HEVC transcoding. :-)
