V15 bugs

* Command+I doesnt work when trying to import anything.

* Viewing .R3D clips in Media Storage come in black. no Thumbnails. Loading clips in the source viewer also just shows black.

I work with still images and animate objects within them.
When I have a still image on the timeline and switch over to fusion page, import an object to animate there are no frames to do animation.

When I have a still image on the timeline and switch over to fusion page, import an object to animate there are no frames to do animation.

You'll need to make it a compound clip as stills are just a still with a hold frame speed effect in them.

There still problem when working with preconformed EDL sequences. On edit page (edit index) reel name from EDL is showing properly but on Color page custom filter does not track the data. So still workaround is manual adding metadata in csv. It is a lot of unnecessarily work.

I can't recreate this. Why is the whole path in quote marks? Is there a reason you're not using the media browser?

I usually right-click a file holding down shift and choose "Copy as Path", then in the media import dialog, I simply paste that path. Never been an issue in 12, 12.5 or 14. Only in 15. This is also how I import media into other software (Dxo PhotoLab, Affinity Photo etc)

The reason why I'm not using the media browser instead is because that's how I work. I skim through shots in Windows 10 using nothing but windows explorer, and then pull in the clips I need for my projects. I find this method way faster than using DR's own media browser.

Edit: I do miss CTRL+i very much!

When applying grades from exported .dpx stills, OpenFX effects' settings are set to default values, even if they shouldn't be.

Eg. in one of my stills I used Gaussian Blur to soften my footage slightly, it's Strength was set to 0.200 and Blend to 0.200, as well.

Now, whenever I apply this grade, it's always set to default Strength 0.400 and Blend 0.000

It also applies to other effects, like Color Space Transform, Glow, etc.
No pre-set effects settings are loaded.

Fusion:

The time ruler of the Spline, Keyframe and Main window don't sync together consistently. Is it possible to have them ganged together fully so that if I press play (space) all the time rulers move in sync or at least the selected window time ruler moves consistently.

Resolve 15 > Fusion Page crashes, when you have a video sequence, a still image and add a Time Stretch to the still image.

Easiest way to recreate is just drop the sequence and the still image into the timeline on top of each other, right-click and "Create new Fusion clip..." and then enter the Fusion Page.

if you use one of the old titles in the inspector the Rich text section is repeated when you scroll in the inspector

when I pull one of the new Fusion titles into the timeline nothing appears on the video and nothing appears in the inspector - if you go to the fusion tab everything is empty ie no nodes or anything

Nodes Panel/Windows disappears. Issue persists after closing program.

Using render cache. When doing anything in the fusion page, Resolve has to cache... that's normal, so far. If I remove all nodes from the fusion page it still caches the original media, even if I undo and restore to the original state.

Thanks, when I do that I have frames to work with but still image overlays no longer show up. plus doing that for every still image shot isn't workable.

It seems this version of Fusion isn't geared towards animatic content.

I have 2 monitors, Realtek integrated Audiocard. No sound at all
Settings are strange, there is no option for left and right monitor, only un-assigned

Updated!

Removing and reinstalling audio driver helped to re-appear options for choosing audio devices and now all is good

Retime Curve Menu

It was bad enough before that you couldn't set the default to Retime Speed or have it remember the last setting you used (I always have to turn off Retime Frame and turn on Retime Speed) but now every time you reopen the clip, both options are turned on. This is highly annoying.

1. On the edit page: When I click the Fusion tab with no clip selected app crash (...or the reason for crash could be something else)

2. Editing happily on the Editor page for hours, then I switch to color page and get a grey viewer window. Switch back to Edit page - all is good on Edit page. Restart program, same problem. Output to Intensity card is good.

Trouble adding keyframes to Rotation on Edit Page

When I turn on automatic keyframes and change rotation, no keyframe is created. Likewise I can press Keyframe Add Ctrl [ and nothing happens.
Then when I open curve graph and click on add keyframe after a couple of tries it will finally add a keyframe.

Keyframes work as expected with position and zoom but not with rotation.

If I have a video dissolve and add a sound dissolve to the same cut, those dissolves are linked.
When I select the sound dissolve independently, and try to lengthen or shorten it, Resolve crashes.

By the way, it does not make sense, that both dissolves are linked together. In 99% of the cases, they have to be manipulated independently...

Not assigned in default keyboard layout but works for me, if assigned.

Big big problem rendering in ACES. with a complex node system there are flashes in the rendering, approximately every 30 seconds. On PC and on MAC.

Play/Stop buttons on Micro Panel don't work with active Media Viewer in EDIT page (buttons control Timeline Viewer instead). J-K-L works as expected on active viewer window.

Creating a new folder for backups on external Raid does not work. Has to be created in MacOS Finder.

When using Resolve on single screen in Fullscreen Setup (Workspace) switching to fullscreen viewer (Micro Panel or command-F) and back moves the Resolve UI far to the right and the underlaying Mac Desktop is visible for a quite a bit. (only for the first time after program start)

That's pretty inefficient, though, as each frame, though identical, must now have a unique cache entry.

I had an audio issue with v15b1, but can't figure out how it happened. Basically the audio stopped playing, even across projects. No green bars showed in the mixers in either the Edit or Fairlight tabs during playback. I changed my Win10 audio settings, switched between headphones and speakers, and checked every volume slider and mute button in DR. Uninstalled and reinstalled, but still no luck. Toggled the Preferences/SpeakerSetup settings from "use system" to "manual" and had no luck...until I toggled to Manual, selected a device, then selected same setting I used in Manual for the left and right stem outputs (not sure what that means). Then audio returned! Yay! Toggled back to "Use system settings" and audio continues as expected.

Sorry, I know that's not very helpful info, but still not sure how I turned off the audio to begin with, nor why toggling the speaker setup brought it back. I do have the log, if that would be interesting to you...

Yes, but only by using 2 Monitors!
If i have only 1 monitor, all seems to be OK after do it so in 2 monitors also.

Instantaneous crash when I try to join clip.

Peter, can we do two things:

1) rename this thread with the current version of the software
2) make it a sticky

so we put the bugs in one thread.

In fusion (Resolve15) whenever I have a sequence of Tracker > Paint > Paint (with polygon mask).

I try to connect both paints and the polygon to the tracker via 'center' and the third connection freezes Resolve.

I'm running MacSierra 10.12.6 + Latest Resolve 15

Second day using Fusion ever, so hope the way I've said stuff isn't confusing.

Resolve 15 > Fusion Page crashes, when you have a video sequence, a still image and add a Time Stretch to the still image.

Easiest way to recreate is just drop the sequence and the still image into the timeline on top of each other, right-click and "Create new Fusion clip..." and then enter the Fusion Page.

Try it with Fusion set to use CPU only?
(Worked for me - still other Fusion crashes though)

More of a feature to be aware of - with a clip selected in edit page - CMD+J / K / L does an interesting slide 1 frame macro (disabled by removing the Cintel Scanner shortcuts that are being called).

"Show clips with handles" will not show heads (only tails) for a clip that sits at the very beginning of a timeline. Leaving a gap bigger than the default handles length at the beginning of a timeline solves the problem. This bug also exists in Resolve 14.3.

In Preferences, System, Video and Audio I/O: Making any selection in "For playback and capture use" results in the Speaker Setup being greyed out. It doesn't matter if I select my Mini Monitor or switch it back to None, it happens every time. Closing and re-entering setup re-enables Speaker Setup.

When I export a lut for an editor or for monitoring on set,Resolve 15 completely changes the contrast values. It consistently introduces a much stronger S-Curve in the mid & highs but lower levels stay the same and
Color Values Never change I've tested this by exporting a lut, then bringing it back into resolve and applying the same lut to the same log footage I built the original lut for and it dramatically changes it.

We first noticed it when I built one for an editor to use for monitoring and it was vastly different.
I've tried multiple work arounds but to no avail.

in Edit room delayed audio: no sound for a 1/4 or 1/2 second when starting to play timeline. Using XAVC codec and 2 hour long clip.

In Edit room audio waveform of clips appears for some clips and not for others. Very inconsistent
Have to toggle them off and on to have them appear. XAVC codec

Edit Page, with greater than four video lanes: Using the 'move down' command to relocate the uppermost track: will crash DR15 every time.

BTW, would love to see a simple drag & move functionality for re-ordering lanes.
