Pause / Playback - output blanking changes

i have noticed this behaviour for quite a while. No I gotta ask: When i hit spacbar to pause, the output blanking becomes slightly larger and the image sharper. When I hit playm the blanking shifts some pixels (on all four corners) and makes the blanking slightly smaller (and the image less sharp)...

Whats this all about?

It's probably because you are using proxies or optimized media and only see the full resolution image when you pause playback.

However, without the fundamental system specs and details of your project, your question is largely unanswerable....

No I don't use proxies / optimized media and it is also the case in the media tap without anything applied.

I use an Mini Monitor 4K PCIE Card and a GTX 1080. On all monitors I get that slight pixel shift of the output blanking switching between paus and playback and vice versa.

Can't imagine I'm the only one having this issue..

Again, you don't specify a large number of variables; OS, source video format, how your project is set up for timeline resolution, monitor scaling, etc.

Specs now in my signature. I work mainly with CDNG but that doesn't matter. Happens with all formats.

Blanking is set to 1920 x 1200 (setting of my Eizo). But I remember having the same issue with "Match timeline setting". It is just a minor pixel shift of the blanking on top and bottom..

I don't know what setting might cause this.

What version of DaVinci Resolve are you running?

Have you seen it on prior versions? You indicate you have seen this "for a while"...

I downloaded some older CDNG files and don't see it on V 12.5 or 14, but I am sure the files are NOT 4:1, and I am not running V15 yet, so I can't help you there.

I was going to suggest it might have something to do with how Resolve decompressed CDNG 4:1 on the fly, but if you say it happens on every file type, that suggests maybe some sort of project/preference setting that is influencing the blanking.

That or you should back everything up and try a re-install of Resolve...

Found the solution: This only happens when "Performance Mode" is switched on, as it was in my case!
