12.5 on c: and 15 on d:?

PostFri Apr 13, 2018 7:32 pm

I've been using Resolve 12.5 for about the last two years and haven't ever had any issues with it until about the last two months. Over the past couple months the program has crashed (just froze to death) about 10 times, and the only thing I can do is manually power off my computer by holding the power button. This is unacceptable because I don't want to damage my computer hardware by manually powering off my computer (plus Resolve just shouldn't be freezing).

So I have Resolve 12.5 on my c: drive and I was wondering if I could put Resolve 15 on my d: drive? The reason being is that I don't want to inadvertently erase or modify my 12.5 disk database by migrating to 15. I am mid-project on a feature-length documentary with 12.5 and migrating to 15 (if I were to install 15 on c:) sounds scary. But if I could just install 15 on my d:, I think that might be a good solution.

Is this possible? Any thoughts/comments? Can I have 2 versions of Resolve on my computer (on separate drives)?

Two different boot drives.

Otherwise, only one database.

You can have two database, one with 12.5 abs one with 15, however:
If yoy touch the 12 with dr15 yoy will upgrade it and leave it at 15
Yoy cannot have dr12.5 and dr15 installed at the same time

Side note on this: if you have problems like this I suggest you to revert to the closest backup (of your OS) you have before it started to act like this (if you have any), or restore it. Most of the time it's just a driver problem, SOMETIMES you will probably be just fine restoring the driver to the original state (on win within the device manager), but this forum is not about this. ;)
