Speed Change Mode for audio clips

PostWed Apr 25, 2018 2:13 am

Hello there,

Still pretty new to editing in Resolve, I'm coming from Premiere. Premiere has a function called "rate stretch" that allows one to manually stretch a clip to the exact runtime needed without guessing about the percentage. Resolve has something similar with its Speed Change Mode on video clips, but I'm not seeing that pop up for selected audio-only clips when I hit Cmd-R. It would be wonderful if this were implemented in a future update... Or am I missing something?

Hey Brandon

You're not missing anything.

Retime Controls are not available for audio clips. Works only if they are linked to video.
(Won't work if you manually link an audio clip to a random video clip either)

Thanks for the reply! A few things like this are making me think I can't fully switch over to Resolve as my only NLE just yet, but it's getting close.

Right-click on the audio clip in the timeline and select New Compound Clip. Then right-click on the compound clip and you can adjust the speed.

You don't get the Retime Controls in audio. Regardless of making a Compound Clip or not.
I'm pretty sure you get the same audio options you'd get anyway.

Just stumbled upon this issue and this post.
At least with the current version 17.3 I can confirm that after making a Compund Clip of the linked clips the audio speed does change according to video speed.
