Managed to configure Sub groups ok. will there be dynamic added to subs, aux and main bus? (pic1)

How do I activate the Aux to be used as a sidechain trigger?

Is this how it should be done but its not implemented yet or is there different way to get it working? (pic2)

This was available in earlier builds, so I would imagine that the functionality will return.

How do I activate the Aux to be used as a sidechain trigger?
The Channel Aux Send only routes signal to an Aux Buss. The Channel Aux Send has no access to the key input of the Fairlight dynamics processors.

The Bus Format window only specifies the channel width of the Master, Sub, and Aux Busses. It does not route signals.

Are you attempting to duck Music under Dialogue or something similar?
Fader automation achieves the same result, and often is a little more transparent than ducking.

I haven't managed to get sidechain working... I have the output of a bus routed to the input of a track where I set the sidechain in the dynamics. But it seems not getting the sidechain signal from the bus. I wonder what I am doing wrong. I can't find info about it in the manual

Sidechain will come in a future update.

I doubt if it is fully implemented yet.
I do see in the signal flow chart that there is an input to the dynamics sidechain part, but have not found a way yet to adress it via any routing.
There seems no sidechain input drawn to the VST/AU section so that would be a good second question for if/when that will be possible.

Fairlight is still in the base state, where more advanced stuff like sidechaining , or editing / deleting automation data, or even more advanced audio editing besides a simpel razor, seem to not have yet made it to the first release.

For now stability trumps features so i am ok to wait a while . Its already a huge improvement over what we had before. And i must say i so far like fairlight even in its not full potential reached state. Just that fact that it eats all my vst/au stuff is a huge plus. And the possibility to easily create stems , sub mixes, different main mixes, different speaker setups that you can change with a simple dropdown, etc is also very cool stuff

I do sorely miss the possibility to create presets for all this stuff as it gets boring very fast to keep recreating the same settings every time for some standard compression/limiting stuff etc. But it surely will come....

edit: ah Peter just beat me ;-)

I've updated to Resolve 14.3 but I cant get sidechaining to work.
I tried with ReaComp to get a ducking compressor...

is this working or am I trying to ride a dead pony? :)

thx
Mike

I also cant´get sidechaining to work in DR15b...

It´s such a common (and important) task in pro Audio DAWs that i can´t believe it´s not working in Resolve/Fairlight... Hopefully BMD implements it soon!!

Alright, landed here as well. Was testing a very basic Sidechain (Auto Ducking) Setup for like 2h with the idea to switch from Audition. But is this seriously not working? How can such an important feature still be missing.

How is anybody mixing VO with Resolve / Fairlight? Any alternative workflow inside this (otherwise amazing) App? (And i really don't have time to automate faders...)

+1 for this checkbox to work soon.

+1 (or more) for this. With all the patching/routing infrastructure that's already in place in Fairlight, I can't believe this is a lot of dev work.

What is the reason for sidechain not being available for a compressor enabled on a bus channel? Unless I'm doing something wrong, I have to enable an identical compressor on each and every channel in the mix in order to get a global sidechain working for the entire mix, which isn't very efficient.

Agreed 100%.

We need to be able to sidechain an Aux channel.

+1 again for this. Sidechain from an aux and accessing the sidechain input of third-party plugins are a huge problem for me. It would also be nice if I could have multiple sidechain key busses (ie, bass sidechained to kick, separate from dialogue sidechained to the music bus)

+1 for me. would like to sidechain a bus, and also to use 3rd party sidechain so I can apply an eq compression or multiband compression to a side chain to carve out a place in the song for Vo without having to lower the entire volume quite so much.

thanks.
