3 mono tracks to stereo with LFE

PostSun May 06, 2018 7:59 am

Hi all,

I've been searching on google but found nothing on converting 3 mono tracks to stereo with an LFE channel in Resolve.
I found tons of info on 5.1 but I got 3 mono tracks from a sound designer (Left, Right, LFE) and I can't find how I can address the LFE to an LFE channel.
I already panned the left mono channel to the left and the right mono channel to the right, but what am I supposed to do with the LFE? can I just drop it into the timeline and I don't have to do anything with it or do I need to route it somehow or put on some features etc?

Would love to hear from you guys.
I'm running the latest resolve 15 Beta

Create three Mono Audio Tracks
Audio Track 1 > A1 > L > Pan Left
Audio Track 2 > A2 > R > Pan Right
Audio Track 3 > A3 > LFE > Panning not required

Create a 2.1 Main Buss (M1).

Option / Alt Click the LFE channel's (A3) Panner to open the 3D Panner, and enable the Boom section and enable the "Only" option.

You can then continue to use the 2D Panner, since the "Only" button is now displayed
(replacing the "Pre" button with an "Only" button).

I'd get the guy to remix it, because this is not a standard delivery format.

It is possible to access the "Only" button in the 2D Panner - no need to open the 3D Panner.

Option / Alt + clicking the "Pre" button in the 2D Panner cycles between "Pre" and "Only".
