Is there a better way to search these forums?

The board system used here is a real head-scratcher, and places these arbitrary restrictions on search terms. I cannot search for things like 4K or 4-up as they're "too common" or "need to be at least 4 characters long".

Are there any tricks I need to use to search for important keywords that happen to be less than 4 characters in length?
