Problems with A/V Edit not at the same place

PostMon May 14, 2018 8:43 am

Hi guys,

I have a small issue with my editing, that causes me a headache. I haven’t found a solution yet but maybe some of you more experienced users can point me in the right direction:

Here is the situation:

So, I have set up a bunch of keyboard shortcuts to speed up my edit. I am mainly using “timeline: split clips”, “ripple delete” and “ripple edit”.
However, ever so often, when I make an edit using “timeline: split clips” the clip isn’t really split at the same position: The (linked) video and audio track have a separate cut in two different positions, instead of the same position (see Screenshot).

I can’t seem to find out why that is or how to fix it. Any ideas? Am I using the wrong tools? Isn’t “split clips” the same as the Razor tool?

Would be great if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks for the help!

PS: I have used Resolve 14.x and 15, working on Windows 10.

So I have noticed that this happens predominantly with XAVCS footage, as far as I can tell.
Is that a bug maybe?

Can you post a link to a very small sample clip that you can use to repo this?

Thanks Peter, yes sure:

Here is a sample clip shot in XAVCS on a Sony a7r III with HLG2:

Here is a screen capture of what it looks like in resolve:

I am using a keyboard shortcut, that I have mapped with "split clips". 3 out of 5 of the edits are not at the same place for audio and video. Am I using this wrong?

Thanks!

Peter, did you find the time to check it out?

Thanks,

Andy, I use "Razor" for that, default shortcut is CTRL + B. It's one entry above "Split Clip" in the "keyboard mapping" window.

Wonder if that works for you.

Also wonder what the difference between "Razor" and "Split Clip" is ...

Thanks, I'll give that a try... I don't know the difference either :-)

Hey everyone,

soooo... the issue remains, sadly. Still when I make a cut at the playheads position (by shortcut), sometimes the Video and Audio tracks are cut at different positions by an ever so little bit, which eventually leads to my track being out of sync when I ripple delete a couple of times... I am using the latest beta of v15 (haven't tried the new final release, yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
