Lapptop shuts off

PostSat May 19, 2018 5:14 pm

Hello all...
A few months ago I asked the question about what is causing my machine to just shut off in the middle of a render... It doesn't' crash or blue screen, just turns off...

After some searching, it was a problem with others too... mostly gamers. The CPU can be running so hot, it shuts off the system...

the solution was to go into Task Manager, find the Davinci process and using the "Process Affinity" menu item, tell it to use only 1/2 of the processors in the machine.. it works but obviously takes away power from Davinci...

This seems like an incredibly bad solution... How is that Davinci or even more, Windows, can't sense this and throttle back the processors to avoid a shutdown? It's Insane that this ability isn't available... Have others seen this and have had a better solution?

Thanks
Harold
