Audio export option - timeline passthrough

PostTue May 22, 2018 5:59 pm

Resolve Team,

Could you please add a PassThrough option for TIMELINE AUDIO.
Right now we have to setup up the BUS settings then under Deliver option I can only use Individual Clips setting to patch each Audio track for output.
Very time consuming and "Human Mistake" get us often when doing this.
And type of Direct Out or Timeline "As Is" export function would be Fantastic!

Here are some screen shots, of an AAF being relinked - Video & AUDIO, want to EDIT / COLOR / TITLE ETC...
Keep the Audio just like it is in this timeline and then export Video and Audio together as QT format.

All though Individual Clips will work when we generate a QT we then have to use a script or FFMPEG to add the Metadata back into the QT like Reel/Tape Name.

I have attached some stills for a ref.

First off, please don't ever use caps lock in your thread titles again. Notice how no one else does it here? Good. Now please amend yours, it's incredibly obnoxious. (thanks Tom..ive fixed it. Peter)

While this would be a useful feature you can already just create export presets and set up the audio to output timeline tracks, there should be no need to get the Fairlight page involved.

Although judging by your screenshots you've lined up the audio incorrectly anyway - why are stereo audio files being put into 2 mono tracks instead of 1 stereo track??

Rendering as Individual clips will keep any reel name metadata that already exists, if you're not setting this up properly then consult the manual. There should be no need to use 3rd party software for this.

Steve, how many channels would you permit for a direct passthrough?
Which codec do you wish to render to?

Hey Peter,
Right now 12 channels would great, but who knows this might go up if we start passing more work toward Resolve and less to ProTools.

Delivery Codec in this workflow would be 2 formats.
Two are Quicktime:
1) DNx36 in a .MOV container with 4 to 12 Channels of Audio.
175x in a .MOV container also could require 12 Channels of Audio.

2) ProRes HQ and 422 also could require 12 channels of Audio.

Thanks Peter really appreciate you looking into this.

TOM, TOM, TOM, TOM, TOM......
Next time you chime in on a post please have some VALUABLE input.
Second read the entire post, this was an AAF from Avid relinked in RESOLVE! Not something I setup or another operator on Resolve, we also have about 16 Resolve stations and setting up Presets also can add another level of HUMAN ERROR.

Not sure about the how or why Resolve set the channels up this way because they are not that way in the AAF from Avid.
