Can't we swap a project's highly compressed .mp4 A/V files for their new, "Media Manager-generated" QuickTime .mov transcode files -- and have the new transcoded versions compose properly throughout the entire timeline, with in and out points -- and clip markers all preserved?
I think it'd be awful to have to transcode all those clips all over again.
LESSON LEARNED: Transcode before editing, and select "Relink to Clips" option!
That said...
How should I best accomplish this replacement of highly compressed mp4 timeline clips with their already-transcoded [QuickTime .mov] versions?
Trouble is four--fold:
A. The filename suffix is now different so Resolve Studio 14.0.014 utterly refuses to link the timeline .mp4 "missing clip placeholders" to the new .mov corresponding clips!
B. Also, since some of the original .mp4 clips in the project do not start at frame 0:00:00:00 -- but their new, transcoded counterpart do start st frame zero, Resolve won't link to them [properly] either.
C. I did not know it was best to select "RELINK TO SELECTED CLIPS" or whatever the option reads, under "+ More Options" within the Media Manager Transcode tab.
D. Path of transcode clips differ from their original. mp4
Sadly, some of the original [.mp4] A/V files started at a Timecode other than 0:00:00:00 so what I need is guidance in "offset" for transcoded files and how to get them to acquire the
In/Out,
Volume,
Audio
Tracks and
Clip Markers-placement attributes of their former .mp4 corresponding clips in the timeline.
Any help you awesome folks can offer is desperately appreciated, as I tried comprehending insights from the manual.
What steps should I take?
