how to set up geforce 1080ti and 1060 GPUs for resolve 15?

PostWed Jul 11, 2018 9:52 pm

Hi all,

I have gone back through all the dual GPU vs. single GPU threads but they are a bit confusing, and I haven't seen anything definitive regarding whether the addition of fusion changes things.

I was happy with my geforce 1060 6GB GPU using resolve 14, but now when I'm working in the fusion tab (or on a fusion clip in the timeline), things seriously bog down, and occasionally crash. I just found a good deal on a 1080ti ($600) and picked it up. So my question is, what is the best set up? Do I (a) pull out the 1060 and replace it with the 1080ti, (b) set my 1060 to run my displays (GUI) and dedicate the 1080ti to compute, or (c) try to use both? And for the best option, what are the settings in Resolve to make it happen?

Thanks in advance!

Replace the 1060 with the 1080ti. Since Resolve 14 they have optimized the software for using one powerful card for display and compute, rather than having a weaker dedicated display card.

If you use more than one card the overall performance is limited to the slowest card.

I have the studio version. Does that change things?
