Media Asset Management

PostThu Jul 12, 2018 2:28 pm

Looking at starting from scratch with an organization with a MAM and editorial handled by multiple editors with Resolve. I'd almost consider staying in Resolve databases altogether for ingest but is editing/tagging metadata possible during ingest/cloning etc?

I know there are quite a few MAM/DAM options out there but what is the most seamless (integrated?) with Resolve these days that people are happy with?

Resolve's media page has a lot of metadata functionality. You can edit the predefined fields and add your own. And you can make smart bins that use your tags to auto-sort clips. It will probably do everything you need it to do if you're staying in Resolve.

Plus, if you have a good organization of folders and files, Resolve can populate the "reel" field automatically (page 586 onward).

There are many MAM systems, but I'm not sure if there is one which is tightly designed for Resolve and an NLe. It's still very new NLE.

Kyno is good, but doesn't support BRAW yet. Nor Arri, Sony or Canon RAW, only R3D.

Looks very promising, at least for Mac users!
