Project Settings

This question is probably due to my unfamiliarity with Resolve; I am using 15 b6.

I am not sure what to set the project settings for the timeline/sequence for my movies. I am using a Canon Vixia which produces a file in AVS h.264. Adobe Premiere Pro and Pinnacle Studio 21 process the files as 1440 by 1080. There is no setting for this. When I use the setting that Resolve uses when placing the file on the timeline, it is in a 4:3 format on the timeline viewer. I can stretch to fill corners. In the delver/render, it is in 1920 by 1080 mode. If I make a custom mode of 1440 by 1080 it reverts to 4:3 output in stead of 16:9.

Any help in guiding me with the correct settings is appreciated.

Your Timeline should be 1920 x 1080. Your Pixel Aspect Ratio should be 16:9 anamorphic.

While there are other possibilities, I'd define your project as 1920 by 1080. Then I'd select all those clips in the Media page and change the pixel aspect ratio in the clip attributes to DVCPro HD (that is the same as yours).

Thank you very much. Setting the clip attributes->Pixel Aspect Ration to DVCPRO-HD worked like a charm.
