filmimpact.net transition issues with Resolve

PostTue Jul 17, 2018 4:55 pm

I recently contacted Filmimpact to ask if they were going to port their transitions currently available on Premiere and Final Cut, over to Resolve; this is the answer I received:

Hi John,

Thank you for contacting FilmImpact.net

Sorry to say we've delayed porting our video transitions to Davinci Resolve.
Here are the most prominent reasons why we've decided to delay the OFX port of our transitions:

1. Clip Flattening
Resolve is flattening all clips layers before the transition is applied.
We want to be able to apply transitions to individual clips on separate layers so we can create logo reveals, text animations etc...

2. Alpha Channel
Alpha channels are handled by Resolve, instead of the OFX transitions.
All Alpha Channel modifications we make are ignored by Resolve.

We consider video transitions to be very effective tools.
With the issues listed above, they are much less effective.
Surely Davinci Resolve has it's pro's, but thinking about video transitions, these are serious cons.

If you have any further questions, please contact us again.
We are happy to answer any.

Kind regards,
Jaap Boerhof (Filmimpact.net)

I wanted to bring this to the attention of the DR15 team to see if this was something that could be remedied. I use their transitions all the time in Premiere and is one of the reasons I often have to end up returning to Premiere to edit projects.

I hope both teams can resolve this issue so I can start using DR exclusively.

Does anyone know if these are going to be fixed/changed?

I've read so many threads on here about these issues but never any concrete replies from BM or the forum on it
