This is looking like a good tutorial series. Alexis has one section where he talks about the processing order and the use of the various user-mode caching concepts. If they were to work as he describes them that would be fantastic but I find the caching very temperamental. I'll try to expand upon this general observation in a future posting.

edit - funny enough - beta 7 seems to have fixed a couple of the caching bugs I was seeing...

And a very good writer. As he notes in the tutorial he's "the guy who wrote the book" on Resolve, meaning the manual.

And for all noobs I highly recommend his book "The Art of Color Correction".
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

I went through the "Resolve 15 new features" tutorial, and it was great. Alexis is a great instructor, and it clearly shows he knows what he is doing. He shows how to combine new functions to use them in a smart and effective way.

There will be more tutorials on Resolve 15 soon, and I look forward to them!

Yes, I'm really looking forward to what he has to say about Fusion.

Warren Eagles (whom Alexis graciously mentions in his tutorial) has his own Resolve 15 title coming out soon from FXPHD, as do the people at MixingLight. All this stuff is worth taking in, and all three companies have their own approaches.

Resolve 15 is a massive, sprawling program so complex, I doubt that even Blackmagic has a single employee who knows every single facet from top to bottom. It's a very, very deep program that can still work for many casual users who just need to do small projects on lightweight systems (at least, to a point).

I wouldn't be surprised if Mary Plummer does a Ripple Training series on Fairlight. She was reportedly hired by BMD to write an instruction book on Fairlight, and she's done a bunch of Ripple Training tutorials on Logic Pro, most of which I've watched.
