Why my resolve won't play audio while I am editing?

PostThu Jul 19, 2018 2:00 pm

I have some problems with my Davinci Resolve 14:
It will not play audio in the edit mode nor in fairlight panels. I have searched many websites and their solutions such as changing the sound settings or unmute my speaker, but they won't work.
Anyone here that have some solutions that can help me?

Without information on your system such as OS, exact Resolve version, RAM, etc, all we can do is guess.

OK, your computer should be able to handle Resolve, but I would recommend you change that 2gb Ram stick for a matching 8gb one. What is the format of the video you are trying to edit and is the audio sample rate 48k? Windows audio needs to be set to 48k not 44.1.

I had similar issue after upgrading to V15 Beta 6, for seven hours couldn't get the audio to play. Waveform was showing in the inspector window, audio waveforms also showing on the timeline, metadata showed LPCM 2 ch 16 bit 48k stereo track but the audio mixer/meters were not moving. Went into Preferences>Video and Audio I/O>Speaker Setup>Speaker Configuration>Manual>Device(pick yours) and Wahl-ah..sound!

After doing this, I returned Speaker Configuration>Use System Setting which is what it had been all along, had never changed that, still works, don't know why it ever needed switchine to manual but it did, and that's what brought the sound back. Never had the problem through the other upgrades, V15 Beta 6 is nice, runs stable, but I was starting to sweat over the no audio.

I tried to adjust the settings that you mentioned up there in the windows sound settings, but neither the 16-bit 48000Hz nor the 24-bit 48000Hz settings work.
Even reinstalling the Davinci Resolve 15 nor 14 works...... :|
