DaVinci Resolve 15, MacOS App Store version not shipping?

Hi, Resolve 15 has been out for a few days, when is it going live in the MacOS App Store?

I too would like to know that!!

Previous incremental updates have typically appeared on the app store a day after release here. This being a big update I'd guess is why it's taking longer. Plus with no official response from Blackmagic I'd guess the ball is in Apples court...

Me three, although I'd also like a recap of the pros and cons of buying Resolve through the App store. I remember there are a few minor differences: for example if you purchase through the App store you have to change a few settings in the preferences in order to automatically add external storage volumes.

I think the biggest thing to consider when buying via the App Store is: will I always be using a Mac? Because if a few years down the road you decide to switch to Windows or Linux but still want the Studio version of Resolve, you'll have to buy it all over again if you purchased through the App store.

I like keeping my options open. We don't know where Apple is going in terms of its commitment to pro-level hardware. Much will be revealed when next year's new Mac Pro is released, which could either rekindle hope or dash it entirely.

Anybody know when DaVinci Resolve 15 Studio will be available through the App Store. Apple says it's up to the developer. I have been using the free beta version and am dying to unlock the features of studio.

Hmmm... I'm on mac too but won't ever buy it on the appstore : whatever goes out of the sandbox restrictions (like ofx for example) had never been included in the mac appstore version; I also remember things about using nVidia GPUs etc etc...
Really, the differences are not that small, you could find some differences in the forum here I think.

My question did you have any problem with performance in playback.
I’m planning to buy an iMac Pro, with the same specs you have.
My existing iMac late 2015 with only 16 GB, core i7, Intel Iris Pro card. is stuttering all alon fo I add a title or color grade.
I discovered though Prores 422 LT plays better than 422HQ.
What is your experience with Resolve 15 on your iMac Pro?

I'm running 15.2 on a brand-new MacBook Pro (32GB RAM, Vega 20, Mojave 10.14.1) and all's mostly well, except that the 3DLUTCreator plug-in doesn't work. When I try to apply it to a node on the Color page, the UI disappears, but Resolve itself doesn't disappear from the process table. Instead, it runs at 100% CPU. A process analysis shows that its stuck in some sandboxing process.

I've enabled Accessability in the Apple Preferences -> Privacy and Security -> General tab. That didn't change anything. The plugin works fine with the studio dongle version on my iMacPro. I very much hope that Black Magic can sort the sandbox issues of the App Store version for all my non-principal machines (which don't even have old-style USB ports so the dongle is extra inconvenient).

Apple only supports FCPX and ProRes(RAW) and they make expensive smartphones.

The Plugin manufacturer need to make them App Store Sandbox compliant. This is an Apple requirement.

I've reached out to the support team at 3DLUTCreator suggesting that the problem lies with their implementation. At the same time, would be good if the communication between Resolve and a non-compliant plugin didn't cause Resolve to disappear into its own process black hole.
